Mantiri’s remarks that Hon. Maoka, Richard Maore, Member of Parliament for Igembe North Constituency, insulted the residents of Amwathi ward by labeling them as goons and robbers have been met with backlash with a group of people coming out to defend Hon. Maore claiming that he did not insult residents of Amwathi ward, but he did label Mr. Mantiri, Mr. Mwenda, and Mr. Lazurs as goons.
Hon. Maore’s sentiments were misinterpreted, according to the group, to indicate that he said the people of Amwathi ward are goons when he actually meant that some individuals in Amwathi ward are goons.
“I implore Mr. Mantiri not to degrade himself by picking battles with Hon. Maore for no reason. He is pursuing his personal interests while claiming to be an advocate for the people of Amwathi ward,” said Stephene Wangera, Hon. Maore’s supporter.
The sentiments brought against Mr. Mantiri astounded him, forcing him to publicly declare that he would not respond to his critics. Those who responded, he claims, are not the ones who should answer.
According to Mantiri, the Chairman of the CDF and employees of the Igembe North CDF office, he claimed, were the finest persons to reply.
“We are not children, but grownups. We don’t joke around as Hon. Maore and his siblings do when they throw insults. The insults are bad because Maore has declared that the Amwathi people are robbers and goons,” said Mr. Mantiri.
“His brothers are not the ones who are required to respond on his behalf. Nine of those who protected him are his cousins, with the remainder being his brothers.
“We implore Hon. Maore to come forward and say that it was Mantiri, Mwenda, and Lazarus who labeled as goons and not the residents of Amwathi ward. We’ll be able to defend ourselves through him or his personal assistant at that point.
“I implore his staff to come out and state that his remarks were meant at Mwenda and me because when someone accuses us of robbery there are ways of defending ourselves such as taking legal action, for example.
“Ntoikenda and Mutethia are Hon. Maore’s brothers. Siti is one of his cousins. Only one of the people that spoke on his behalf, Muyori, is not his relative,” said Mr. Mantiri.

Mr.Mwenda implored the people of Igembe North not to be offended by the insults spewed by the small group of persons. According to Mr. Mwenda, Hon. Maore previously insulted residents of Amwathi ward while at a funeral ceremony in Nkandone when he said that they are starving.
“Since the dawn of time, the Hon. Maore’s family has been slinging insults, and we have no enmity for them because they have proven to the public that the behavior is inborn. We want Hon. Maore to come out and state that his sentiments were meant at Mantiri, Lazurus, and me,” said Mr. Mwenda.
“We’ve seen Hon. Maore’s relatives come out in support of him, indicating that they recognize the damage that has been done to the people of Igembe North and that it cannot be undone.
“Immediately after Maore was elected, insults erupted in Igembe North. Mr. Mantiri and I, along with our supporters, stopped flinging insults at our political opponents and went around Antubetwe and other regions, pleading with villagers for forgiveness.
Mr. Mwenda added that the truth was finally disclosed, and the people of Igembe North witnessed individuals like Charles and Mr. Baikenda were the ones slinging insults.
