A U.S. postman opened fire on his Memphis office on Tuesday, killing two of his colleagues before turning his shotgun on himself and ending his life, local officials said.
The post office is “investigating earlier shootings” at a branch in Memphis, Tennessee, she said in a press release. “Three employees are dead. “There is no longer an active threat,” he said.
The perpetrator was among the three officers killed and according to the first elements of the investigation committed suicide, said Lisa-Ann Calp, a representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Memphis, during a press conference. The spokeswoman noted that the investigation is still ongoing.
The U.S. Post reports that the administration and staff have been “shocked by this tragedy.”
