President Uhuru presides over the 2021 prisons cadet officers passing out parade

President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived at Prisons Staff Training College, Ruiru to preside over the 2021 prisons cadet officers passing out parade.

Today’s ceremony is a culmination of 13 months of training and will see the 159 cadet officers deployed as members of the Kenya Prisons Services

Besides presiding over the Cadet Officers pass-out parade, the Head of State inaugurated the institution’s 10,000 litre per day capacity water bottling plant and commissioned the construction of the Kenya Prisons Service Hospital.

The Head of State also presided over the 2021 Annual Taxpayers’ Day at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi. He recognised and awarded distinguished taxpayers’ who have shown exceptional performance in their tax obligations.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday evening held talks with French Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness Franck Riester who paid him a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi.

The Head of State and the Deputy Minister discussed several matters of mutual interest to Kenya and France among them cooperation in infrastructure development, health, green energy, blue economy, trade, education and people-to-people exchanges.

Head of Public Service Dr Joseph Kinyua, Foreign Affairs CS Raychelle Omamo and the French Ambassador to Kenya Aline Kuster-Menager attended the meeting.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday evening also called for collaboration between the United Nations, the African Union and Regional Economic Blocs in the renewal of Africa’s security architecture.

The President said the solidarity and cooperation between the various institutions would help the continent overcome the various challenges facing it among them insecurity, Covid-19 and effects of climate change.

“Together, we can enable African states and regions to overcome insecurity in the Sahel, the Horn of Africa, Central Africa and in countries dealing with dangerous insurgent and terrorist groups,” President Kenyatta said.

President Kenyatta spoke when he chaired a virtual United Nations Security Council high-level debate on cooperation between the United Nations, Regional and Sub-Regional Organizations with a special focus on the African Union.
