His Excellency Hon Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya, and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces has today promoted Maj Gen Francis O Ogolla to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF).
Lt Gen Francis O Ogolla replaces Lt Gen Franklin L Mghalu whose term of service has come to an end after 40 years of service. He had previously served as the VCDF and as the Commander Kenya Navy.

Until his appointment as VCDF Lt Gen Francis Ogolla was the Commander Kenya Air Force. The President has also promoted on the advice of the Defence Council Chaired by Amb Dr. Monica K Juma, Cabinet Secretary for Defence, the President upheld the Council’s recommendations and made various promotions, postings and appointments of KDF officers as below.
