The Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes Prof. Margaret Kobia has said that she was honored to join Her Excellency, First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta during the launch of the POLICARE Policy at Kenya School of Government, Nairobi.

Prof. Kobia said that POLICARE is a National Police Service (NPS) integrated response to Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Kenya. It is designed as a multi- agency victim centered “ONE STOP CENTER” service provider.

Speaking during the launch, Prof. Kobia said that the launch was timely and in line with Kenya’s commitments to end all forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

“In June 2021, His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta made commitments to end all forms of GBV during the Generation Equality Forum in Paris. Key among these commitments was scaling up the National Police Service integrated response to GBV and establishing GBV recovery centers and shelters across the 47 counties in Kenya,” said Prof. Kobia.

According to Prof. Kobia, her Ministry which is responsible for the promotion of gender equality will continue to work in collaboration with all stakeholders towards achieving the commitments that our country has made towards an equal and better future for all.

She thanks her cabinet colleague Dr. Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Mr. Hillary Mutyambai for providing leadership towards realizing the successful launch.
