The Public Accounts Committee chaired by Hon Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) today held a meeting with the Public Service Commission to deliberate on the Auditor General’s report on the audited accounts for the National Government in the Financial year 2018/2019.
Appearing before the Committee, the Commission Chief Executive Officer Mr Simon Rotich, told the Committee that the Commission has been facing staffing challenges due to financial constraints, hence the continuous payment of special duty allowances to staff in acting capacities.

Other issues flagged as concerning by the auditor general in the Commission’s spending include: unpaid pending bills over the years, non compliance with the public procurement laws, and low absorption rates of budgetary allocations hence a failure to complete planned projects.
