A needy School from a remote Village in Meru county was among the beneficiaries to receive support from a Meru county MP. Mukalamatu Primary school received a 10,000 litres water storage tank through NGAAF patron Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza

The students, on the other hand, have found it difficult to obtain safe drinking water because the school does not have piped water. Many students were at risk of contracting waterborne diseases as a result of drinking contaminated water.

On the day the tanks were delivered to the school, the school administration, led by the school’s principal, and all of the students were present.

“We had water problems the last time Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza visited, and students were drinking swampy water,” said the headteacher of Mukalamatu Primary School.

“Students occasionally skipped class to look for donkey carts to fetch water. We are grateful to her for providing us with a water tank.

“The vast majority of elected officials do not visit schools in semi-arid areas. They go to schools with a large population. We’ve never had any MP support the school, and she’s the first leader and woman to come and show her support.

One of the teachers of Mukalamatu Primary School said that Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza gave out bursaries to students the last time she was at school. “The bursaries have been reflected in the students’ accounts, and they will study and perform well,” she said.
