Questions asked during the week by the Members of the National Assembly

The following questions were asked during the week by the following Members of the National Assembly :

-(i) The Member for Loima (Hon. Jeremiah Lomurukai, MP) regarding sufficient stock of food and relief items for purposes of emergencies such as droughts, famine and other calamities in the country, particularly in Turkana County;

(ii) The Member for Eldama Ravine (Hon. Moses Lessonet, MP) regarding why Mzee Kamulwo Chepkurgat of National ID No. 6528350; National Social Security Fund (NSSF) No. 6528350/69, who was an employee of Carbacid (Co.) Limited from October 1983 until retirement on 28th February 1990 is yet to be paid his NSSF pension to date even after his request was sent to NSSF by the Carbacid (Co.) Limited vide a letter Ref: S.2/810/90 dated 1st March, 1990;

(iii) The Member for Kisii County (Hon. Janet Ongera, MP) regarding cases on gender-based violence, rape and murder affecting children and women in Kisii County from July 2018 to date;

(iv) The Member for Butula (Hon. Joseph Oyula, MP) regarding the construction of Butula Sub-County Headquarters, which commenced in 2015 has stalled in spite of about Kshs.16.85 million having been disbursed and utilized on the project;

(v) The Member for Soy (Hon. Caleb Kositany, MP) regarding measures put in place by IEBC to ensure Kenyans in the Diaspora register as voters;

(vi) The Nominated Member (Hon. Godfrey Osotsi, MP) regarding the World Bank-funded Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQIP) whose objective was to improve learning environment through provision of appropriate school infrastructure to support 100% transition from Primary School to Secondary School in the 30 counties which recorded the lowest poverty levels;

(vii) The Member for Dagoretti North (Hon. Simba Arati, MP) regarding measures put in place to deal with environmental pollution as a result of motor vehicle exhaust emissions in the Country;

(viii) The Member for Mwingi Central (Hon. Gideon Mulyungi MP) regarding steps taken by the Teachers Service Commission to address the acute shortage of teachers in Mwingi Central Constituency which has greatly contributed to the decline in quality of education in the Constituency;

(ix) The Nominated Member (Hon. Gideon Keter, MP) regarding measures put in place to address psycho-social and stress-related issues occurring among Police Officers which have led to numerous incidents of suicides, murders, desertion of duties, and drunkenness;

(x) The Member for Tharaka (Hon. Gitonga Murugara, MP) regarding the relationship between County boundaries and the land adjudication process, with respect to the boundary between Tharaka Nithi County and Meru County as regards issuance of title deeds to the residents of Turima and Karocho Locations in Turima Division and Gikingo, Thiiti and Ntoroni Locations in Mukothima Division in Tharaka Constituency;

(xi) The Member for Ruiru (Hon. Simon King’ara, MP) regarding the ongoing Greater Githurai /Ruiru Juja Water Supply System project in Ruiru Constituency whose contract was awarded in May 2018;

(xii) The Member for North Horr (Hon. Chachu Ganya, MP) regarding why the National Climate Change Council approved by the National Assembly in December of 2016 is yet to be convened to date;

(xiii) The Member for Emuhaya (Hon. Omboko Milemba, MP) regarding the circumstances that led to demolition of houses at Emulaka, Ebulinji, Ematindo and Ebusanjili areas in Emuhaya Constituency on 20th July, 2021 despite some of the occupants possessing title deeds;

(xiv) The Member for Embakasi West (Hon. George Theuri, MP) regarding the circumstances that led to the National Police Service officers overseeing destruction of properties in Mowlem Ward, Embakasi West Constituency particularly along Kangundo Road, Kwa Maji area and Umoja 3 areas on 10th and 22nd July, 2021;

(xv) The Member for Endebess (Hon. Robert Pukose, MP) regarding the circumstances that led to the formation and Gazettement of a Task force by Trans Nzoia County Government to look into issues affecting public land and was the action carried out in accordance with the provisions of the National Land Commission Act;

(xvi) The Member for Bomachoge Chache (Hon. Alfah O. Miruka, MP) regarding the status of construction of the 75-kilometer Omoringamu – Kenyinya-Ibhicho – Mogambi – Nyamasega – Ogombo – Okoba – Misesi – Otonto – Ogimbo Road in Bomachoge Constituency, and when the said road is expected to be completed;

(xvii) The Member for Subukia (Hon. Samuel Gachobe, MP) regarding why four (4) police posts in Subukia Constituency namely Mbogoini Police Post, Kwa Gitao Police Post, Sidai Police Post, and Magomano Police Post were closed down;

(xviii) The Member for Embakasi Central (Hon. Benjamin G. Mwangi, MP) regarding the procedure that was employed by the Government to allocate Komarock Estate Land Development Project to the then Kenya Building Society, which was later transformed into Housing Finance Company Kenya Ltd (HFCK), in 1996 in Komarock Ward, Embakasi Central Constituency and further provide the current status of the project;(xix) The Member for Mwea (Hon. Kabinga Wachira, MP) regarding the status of ownership of a parcel of land measuring approximately 0.75 acres originally preserved for construction of a Cattle Dip at Diffathas Township in Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County which has allegedly been illegally acquired by private developer(s);

(xx) The Member for Homa Bay Town (Hon. Peter Kaluma, MP) regarding statistics of all teachers employed during the last recruitment exercise;

(xxi) The Member for Kasarani (Hon. Mercy Gakuya, MP) regarding the ownership status of land currently occupied by squatters in Chokaa, Ruai Ward; Maili Saba and Njiru Estates in Njiru Ward; Gituamba in Kasarani Ward; and, Budalangi in Mwiki, Ward Kasarani Constituency;
