​The following Members of the National Assembly asked the following questions during the week: –

a. The Member for Kuria East (Hon. Marwa Maisori, MP) regarding measure in place to ensure that all indigenous languages spoken by the over 79 minority indigenous communities spread over the 47 counties in Kenya are protected from extinction;

b. The Member for Kisii County (Hon. Janet Ongera, MP) regarding cases on gender-based violence, rape and murder affecting children and women in Kisii County from July 2018 to date;

c. The Member for Kibra (Hon. Benard Okoth, MP) on settlement of the award granted to Mr. Shabban Opiyo Kasim by the Environmental and Land Court (Kisumu) following a judgement under Petition No.94 of 2019;

d. The Member for Soy (Hon. Caleb Kositany, MP) regarding measures put in place to ensure prompt service delivery to Kenyans in the Diaspora in particular issuance and renewal of Passports and National Identification Cards;

e. The Member for Kasarani (Hon. Mercy Gakuya, MP) regarding the use of waste water and effluent from the sewerage system in Nairobi City County for food production;

f. The Member for Kabuchai (Hon. Majimbo Kalasinga, MP) regarding marking of examination for students in public universities;

g. The Nominated Member (Hon. Godfrey Osotsi, MP) regarding statistic of all licensed alcoholic drinks manufacturers in Kenya and the amount of Excise Duty and VAT collected from the alcoholic drinks manufacturers;

h. The Member for Awendo (Hon. Walter Owino, MP) regarding the status of the establishment of an administrative unit in Awendo Sub-County;

i. The Member for Subukia (Hon. Samuel Gachobe, MP) regarding criteria used in allocation and disbursement of monies under the School Infrastructure Fund;

j. The Member for Teso North (Hon. Oku Kaunya, MP) regarding high cost of uniform for students joining Secondary Schools;

k. The Member for Awendo (Hon. Walter Owino, MP) regarding long-term strategy for attaining food security in the country and in particular, for the vulnerable persons and areas with adverse and unfavourable weather conditions;

l. The Member for Ainabkoi (Hon. William Chepkut, MP) regarding implementation status of the Tot-Kalowa Irrigation Scheme at the border of Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties whose cost is estimated to be Kshs. 245 million;

m. The Member for Emuhaya (Hon. Omboko Milemba, MP) regarding the status of investigations into the recent shooting of the following three students by police officers – Alfred Odaba Kutwa of Esalwa Primary School, Eric Munala Julius, a form four student at St. Peters Itumbu Secondary School; and, Goffrey Obwanga, a class seven student at Itumbu Primary School, all in Emuhaya Constituency;

n. The Member for Changamwe (Hon. Omar Mwinyi, MP) regarding the implementation status of the partnership agreement signed between M/s. Lafarge- Bamburi Cement Company and the Kenya Tourist Development Corporation to promote conference tourism at the Coast Region whereby the company agreed to among other things, donate a ten-acre piece of land for the construction of an international conference facility in Bamburi area of Mombasa County;

o. The Member for Laikipia North (Hon. Sarah Korere, MP) regarding the status of teachers’ recruitment in marginalized areas across the Country;

p. The Member for Kathiani (Hon. Robert Mbui, MP) non-payment of beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer programme in particular to Nduva Muthengi Nzyoka of ID No. 1695524, Munyiva Wambua Ndunda of ID No. 1605314, Muthue Mumo of ID No. 32522845 and over 200 other beneficiaries of the Elderly Cash Transfer Programme in Kathiani Constituency;

q. The Member for Teso South (Hon. Geoffrey Omuse, MP) on suspension of registration of new schools vide a letter, Ref MOE.HQS/3/6/56 Vol. 2 (43) dated 15th June 2021 addressed to all Regional and County Directors of Education;

r. The Member for Mogotio (Hon. (Dr.) Daniel Tuitoek, MP) regarding the policy on the use of School buses by communities around educational institutions particularly those acquired by with assistance from the National Government Constituency Development Funds (NG-CDF);

s. The Member for Sigowet/Soin (Hon. Kipsengeret Koros, MP.) regarding the status of the recent Bilateral Agreement regarding Health Workforce Collaboration signed between the Republic of Kenya and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland which was signed during the latest official visit by H. E. the President to the United Kingdom;

t. The Member for Sigor (Hon. Peter Lochakapong, MP) regarding the implementation status of Sigor Weiwei Integrated Development Water Project Phase III, which was officially launched by the President on 2nd November 2016;

u. The Member for Saboti (Hon. Caleb Amisi, MP) regarding status of the Youth Empowerment Centres constructed across the country in the past four (4) years, in particular their locations and their completion status;

v. The Member for Kibra (Hon. Benard Okoth, MP) regarding he status of the on-going construction of Ngong Road – Kungu Karumba – Langata Link Road in Nairobi City County;

w. The Member for Ijara (Hon. Sophia Noor, MP) regarding the steps being taken by the Government to address frequent community conflicts occurring in Arid and Semi-Arid regions of the country;

x. The Member for Embakasi West (Hon. George Theuri, MP) regarding causes of the inordinate delays in the allocation of stalls in the New Wakulima Market located along Kangundo Road to small-scale traders who were displaced following the construction of Outer Ring Road;

y. The Member for Baringo Central (Hon. Joshua Kandie, MP) regarding the measures in place to ensure maximum utilization of Eldoret International Airport for both passengers and cargo;

z. The Member for Samburu North (Hon. Alois Lentoimaga, MP) regarding the status of investigations into the recent invasion and raids by heavily armed bandits in the following areas of Samburu North Constituency namely; Mbukoi Village, Marti location on 18th July, 2021;

aa. The Member for Githunguri (Hon. Gabriel Kago, MP) regarding why the upgrading of the 15km Nyaga – Kiambururu – Kamuchege Road in Githunguri Constituency to bitumen standards is yet to commence despite the contract being awarded in June 2016;

ab. The Member for Bomet Central (Hon. Ronald Tonui, MP) regarding the status of the construction of the Bosta Dam in Bomet County which is meant to serve the people of Bomet, Kericho and part of Narok Counties;

ac. The Member for Suba South (Hon. John Mbadi, MP) regarding the circumstances that led to the killing of the late Michael Ohara Simon of ID. No. 25666518, a fisherman at Gate Way Beach in Sindo, Suba South Constituency who was shot and thrown into the Lake Victoria by people suspected to be Ugandan Security Personnel on 5th August, 2021 as reported at Ringiti Police Post vide Occurrence Book No. 03/05/08/2021;

ad. The Nominated Member (Hon. Gideon Keter, MP) regarding whether there are any plans to rehabilitate the Kenya National Archives, which is in a dilapidated state, considering its importance as a hub and gallery of most of the artifacts in the country;

ae. The Member for Kwale County (Hon. Zuleikha Hassan, MP) regarding the implementation status of the National Coroners Service Act, 2017 and outline the gains made so far with regard to its operationalization;

af. The Member for Ainabkoi (Hon. William Chepkut, MP) regarding the implementation status of the Tot-Kalowa Irrigation Scheme at the border of Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties whose cost is estimated to be Kshs. 245 million;

ag. The Member for Mogotio (Hon. (Dr.) Daniel Tuitoek, MP) regarding the extent of geothermal drilling activities in Kajiado, Narok, Nakuru, Baringo, Turkana and Samburu Counties;

ah. The Member for Embakasi West (Hon. George Theuri, MP) regarding consideration for erection barricades along Outer Ring Road in Nairobi City County, particularly between Taj Mall Stage and Allsopps to prevent pedestrians from crossing below footbridges located between the two locations so as to forestall recurrence of multiple accidents which are being witnessed almost on a daily basis in the said areas;

ai. The Member for Kibra (Hon. Benard Okoth, MP) regarding the criteria used in the allocation of infrastructural funds and other resources meant for school development to schools in the country;

aj. The Member for Kiambaa (Hon. John Njuguna, MP) regarding the measures that the Ministry has taken to curb alcohol, drug and other substance abuse in the country, and particularly in Kiambaa Constituency;

ak. The Member for Malindi (Hon. Aisha Jumwa, MP) regarding why High School Management Boards both in Public and Private schools across the country make it mandatory for parents and guardians to purchase schools items such as school uniforms and mattresses, among others, from the respective schools which cost higher than prices at most independent outlets.

The questions will be responded to by the relevant Cabinet Secretary and Heads of State Departments through the respective House Committees.
