Raila Boldly ‘Exposes’ Ruto Over Wheelbarrows; Nyambene Residents React

The recent circulating news that has got most Nyambene residents talking is a recent message by the ODM party leader Raila Odinga over UDA party leader deputy president William Ruto’s wheelbarrow movement for the youth.

Speaking in Nyambene in Meru County, Raila said that he doesn’t want the Kenyan youth to be pushing wheelbarrows but have good jobs in fields such as ICT, Mechanical Engineers, Plumbers, Electrical engineers among others.

“We want them to gain skills and get good jobs, and those who want to start their own businesses should be given funding to do so. I will see to it that all outstanding Helb loans are paid off,” he said.

He said he would look for a Miraa market in Somalia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Tanzania. Raila boasted of having built the Meru-Maua and Meru-Mikinduri roads when he was the Minister of Roads in the former president Mwai Kibaki’s government.

“Freedom was achieved during the first economic revolution and a new constitution was established during the second revolution. I will ensure that there is an economic revolution in the third and final revolution because we have officially begun Kenya’s economic liberation, and it will be a revolution for the youth,” he said

“According to our forefathers, the three main vices are diseases, foolishness, and poverty. We are now celebrating 60 years of independence, and we want to make changes. When they complete their education, children from nursery school to primary school, secondary school, and the university will be given equal opportunities,” he said

Raila promised to establish a youth commission within the Ministry of Youth Affairs and ensure that the youth receive 30% of county government contracts.

“I will ensure that Meru County has a good road network and that all children receive proper healthcare,” he said.

Raila said that It was not propaganda, but a promise, that he would ensure that families who are less fortunate receive Ksh 6000 per month adding that a promise is a debt.
