ODM leader Raila Odinga met with Siaya Senator James Orengo on Monday afternoon, despite claims that the latter was forging his own political path.
Odinga sought to calm the storm that threatened to split the orange party by inviting the Siaya County senator, as well as Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Deputy Party Leader and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
“I had a great chat this morning with Governor @mamangilu and @GovWOparanya together with Senator @orengo_james whom I hosted for brunch. Thanks for dropping by,” Odinga wrote on Twitter.
Orengo announced on Twitter that he had a productive meeting with his party’s leaders.
“Very refreshing to catch up with my Party Leader Hon. @RailaOdinga, Governor @GovWOparanya & Mama @mamangilu,” he said.
“The work of dealing with the current pandemic, youth unemployment and the stressed economic times need all of us to come together regardless of party affiliations,” she said.
“Kenyans are looking upto us to get them out of these challenges. This is not the time to disagree about issues that should be bringing us together.”
