ODM leader Raila Odinga will rejoin his NASA counterparts to form a new alliance that will enable him to win the presidency in 2022.
Mr Odinga made the remarks just days after the Amani National Alliance (ANC), Wiper and ODM parties announced their withdrawal from the NASA coalition formed before the 2017 elections.
Mr Odinga, who was speaking yesterday at the funeral of Ashura Bakari, 46, the wife of Vihiga Deputy Governor Dr Patrick Saisi, said he would start talks with leaders of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) – which includes Wiper, ANC, Ford Kenya and Kanu. – after meeting with leaders of various parts of the country.
Mr Odinga said NASA was already disbanded and would join another coalition before the 2022 General Elections.
Mr Odinga appeared to be responding to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who on Saturday called on the leaders of the disbanded NASA affiliates to reunite in the OKA coalition.
Mr Musyoka, speaking in Mombasa, said the dispute over the distribution of funds, which had disbanded NASA, should not be a barrier to their reunification.
The ODM party has agreed to provide Sh153 million to NASA affiliates; The ANC is led by Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper, Ford Kenya under Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula and the Mashinani Party (CCM) of former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto.
Wiper will receive Sh70.4 million, ANC Sh43.8 million, Ford-Kenya Sh36.04 million and CCM Sh3.08 million.
Should the parties respond to Mr Musyoka’s call, this will be the third time Mr Musyoka, Mr Mudavadi, and Mr Wetang’ula have formed a coalition before the general election.

Yesterday, Mr Odinga said that this week he would meet with leaders from Nyanza in a bid to gain support. Mount Kenya and finally in Nairobi.
“After those meetings, I will start negotiating with OKA coalition leaders.” We withdrew from NASA but the move does not mean we cannot work together. We will work together in the near future, ”said Mr Odinga.
Mr Mudavadi’s allies who were present at the funeral yesterday, however, urged Mr Odinga to work with the ANC leader to win the presidency next year.
MPs Mr Omboko Milemba (Emuhaya), Ms Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga) and Mr Alfred Agoi (Sabatia) expressed their sadness following the collapse of the Nasa coalition.
Mr Milemba told Mr Odinga that he and his fellow NASA leaders would only succeed in forming a government next year if they formed a strong coalition.
“We will support Mr Odinga through our leader Mr Mudavadi,” said Mr Milemba.
Mr Agoi said Mr Odinga would win a majority in Mount Kenya if he joined Mr Mudavadi.
“Mudavadi has enough strategies to get more votes in the Mount Kenya region. I read in the newspapers that Raila does not have any strategies to get votes in the Mount Kenya region. Raila should join OKA so that we can go together in 2022, ”said Mr Agoi.
The MP warned that NASA officials failing to unite would be embarrassed by Deputy President William Ruto 2022.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya warned that the Luhya community would not be able to enter the White House in 2022 without joining the leaders of other areas.
He said Western leaders should start talking to leaders in neighboring areas such as Nyanza and the Rift Valley to fulfill their dream of winning the presidency next year.
“I have no problem with the call of the Luhya community to unite. Even if we are to unite, we need our neighbors. Let’s start with Nyanza and Nandi, ”said Mr Oparanya.
