Residents of Kiorone in Imenti have appealed to the MCA Makasi and governor Kiraitu to repair a highly damaged road connecting the village to the main road.
According to local residents, the road was last repaired in the first year after the MCA and governor were elected.
“The road connecting the village to the main road is inaccessible to vehicles and motorcycles and we are forced to carry milk to the main road. When someone becomes ill, getting to the hospital can be difficult because motorcycles are constantly falling due to trenches. We urge MCA Makasi to disregard the possibility of his re-election. He only appears during the campaigns,” said Jane.
“Despite the fact that our road resembles a plantation, we elected Governor Kiraitu and other leaders. They never came back to us after we elected them, but you will see them again during the next campaign. We demand that no leader comes to woo us because we will not vote for any of them,” said Janet.
As a banana vendor, I’ve paid dearly for the road. Vehicles are unable to travel down the road, and I must wait three days for them to arrive at the market. When I finally get to the market, the delays cost me a fortune. We encourage aspiring candidates to repair the road before seeking our votes. “We pledge to vote for them in the upcoming election,” said Evangeline.
