An angry retiree shot his neighbor in the face with an airgun because branches from the green “fence” separating their plots fell into his garden. Darian Palmer, 37, says he is lucky he is not blind after being attacked by 73-year-old Malcolm Newsham last May, when he needed to be treated.

Fortunately, the shooting did not cause permanent damage to his skull but the children are suffering from nightmares after the incident. Newsham pleaded guilty to assault and injury and was sentenced to 18 months in prison with a two-year suspension. He also has to pay 120 hours of unpaid work and there is also a curfew. According to the Sun, the neighbors are still living next to each other and the 37-year-old said: “We are disappointed with the result. We went through hell and he continues his daily activity as if nothing had happened. “His age should not be a reason he does not go to prison.”
