DEPUTY President William Ruto yesterday raised a white flag about his position in government saying his experience is beyond limits.
“Even if gold is passed through the fire to be better, I think the challenges I face are beyond measure,” said Dr Ruto yesterday in an interview with Inooro FM radio station.
He blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta, Homeland Security Minister Fred Matiang’i and former NASA officials for pushing him into a corner, a situation that has left him without any government authority.
Dr Ruto said that since 2018, when President Kenyatta hugged ODM Leader Raila Odinga, he had been a spectator, while former Jubilee opponents now run government affairs.
“When the second semester started, I was told to stay away. My responsibilities were handed over to Dr Matiang’i and I respected President Kenyatta’s decision as my boss. ”
His remarks came two days after he was barred from traveling to Uganda on Monday for a private visit in a controversial situation, a move he described as a deliberate plot against President Kenyatta.
Referring to the essence of his differences with President Kenyatta, Dr Ruto blamed former Nasa coalition leaders – Mr Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford-Kenya) for the tragedies that have plagued the regime. He said the four were the ones who “invaded” Jubilee and “directed President Kenyatta in vain,” which he said had brought the current mix.
“When we started serving in the second term, we focused our economic plans on the Four Main Development Agenda. However, Nasa disrupted all those plans.
“Instead of focusing on the plans, we started the handiwork with the BBI. At the moment, Jubilee is disrupted, Nasa is dead and our economic plans are no more, ”said the Deputy President.
He said President Kenyatta had invited the four as friends to help him run the government, but instead misled him by bringing him an agenda and plans that were completely out of line with the Jubilee manifesto.

Dr Ruto distanced himself from the plight of the country, saying he had done everything he could to save the Jubilee ship from sinking.
“Kenyans have been asking me what steps I have taken to support the Jubilee government. My contribution is to the key development projects we have launched and implemented in the first term such as the Modern Railway (SGR), the country’s electricity supply and road construction. I have been excluded for the second term, ”he said.
He hailed himself as the best presidential candidate in 2022, with a solution to the current economic challenges facing the country.
He said despite being in a government that has discouraged Kenyans, he has the potential to transform the economy as retired President Mwai did.
“Kenyans often praise Mr Kibaki for his work as President and not for what he did when he served as vice president in the government of the late Daniel Moi. Similarly, I would like them to remember me for what I will do for them as their president if they elect me next year, ”he said.
Despite this, some of President Kenyatta’s allies have described Dr Ruto’s statements as a hoax to Kenyans, considering he has been in government since 2013.
According to MP Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Urban), Dr Ruto is like a driver who blames his colleague when their car crashes.
“Dr Ruto can never be separated from the challenges facing the country or the promises that have not been fulfilled so far. He is part of this government, ”he said.
