SAINT MARK the Apostle and Evangelist

Must read

He was the nephew of the Apostle Barnabas and his mother was named Mary. His origin was probably from Cyprus, but later he settled in Jerusalem.

Mark entered the service of the Church from a very early age, accompanying his uncle Barnabas and the Apostle Paul on their various tours. He also worked for a long time near Apostle Peter.
According to tradition, Mark preached the Gospel in Egypt, Libya, Barbara, and served as the first bishop of Alexandria.

Opinions differ on the manner of his death. One states that he died peacefully in Alexandria, while the other states that he died by fire from the pagans.

The important thing is that Macros wrote the second Gospel in a row in the New Testament. He “paints” in it the power of Christ, That is why the hagiographers place a lion next to the evangelist Mark, which is a symbol of power.

Thus the evangelist Mark in our ages “preaches the faith” 1, that is, he preaches our faith, for his glory God and the salvation of souls 1. To Galatians, a ’23.
