The Senate Committee on National Cohesion, Equal Opportunity and Regional Integration, Chaired by Sen. Naomi Shiyonga, is currently meeting with the National Cohesion & Integration Commission (NCIC) Kenya, represented by Commissioner Danvas Makori and Commissioner Dorcas Kedogo, to deliberate and receive their views and proposals on the National Cohesion and Peace Building Senate Bill 2021, sponsored by Sen. Judith Pareno.

The principal objective of the Bill is to repeal the National Cohesion and Integration Act 2008, and in amending the Act, create the National Cohesion and Peace Building Commission that will be charged with ensuring the formulation of strategies, plans and programs for the promotion of national unity.
In addition, the Bill seeks to give the necessary powers and support to the NCIC in order to ensure they deliver on their mandate.
