Several occupants were injured and rushed to the hospital after a car crashed into a tree in Tigania, Meru County.
The accident happened at Kalulune along Michimikuru-Charuru road on Monday afternoon. A white Probox was driving down the road and the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the center line, went off the road and crashed into a tree in front of a house.
Eyewitnesses responded and had to pry open the vehicle to rescue the occupants and were successfully taken out of the vehicle, and transported to Muthara Hospital.
“A lady asked me to drive her to church, but another man asked her to board the vehicle. She should thank God because the driver informed her that he was not heading in that direction and she boarded another motorcycle,” said an eyewitness.
According to an eyewitness, he received word a few seconds later that the vehicle had been involved in a crash and that one of the injured occupants was the brother of someone he knew well.
He urged motorists to exercise caution on roads.
An eyewitness said that there were no speed bumps along the Michimikuru-Athambu road.
“Motorists and motorcyclists travel at high speeds, endangering children walking on roads.To reduce the number of accidents, bumps should be installed on the road,” said an eywitness.
According to an eyewitness, the occupants were referred to Meru Level five hospital after being denied treatement at Muthara Hospital.
