The results of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination for the year 2020 have finally been released.
After a nearly one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, which forced schools to close in March 2020, this was the first national examination in which 747,161 candidates wrote their papers.
Simiyu Robinson Wanjala of Murang’a High School was named the top student in the results released by Education Cabinet Secretary on Monday, May 10.
Wesonga Allan Udoma of Agoro Sare High School was second, and Chepngeno Terer of Kenya High School was seventh.
There were 893 candidates who received an A (plain), which was up from 627 in 2019. There was a substantial change in 19 of the subjects.
In 2019, 143, 140 students earned university entrance grades, compared to 125, 747 in 2019. A total of 223 special needs students received a c+ or higher.
