The Israeli army said six rockets were fired from Lebanon at Israel tonight, but did not reach Israeli territory.
The army said it retaliated with artillery bombardment of Lebanon.
A Lebanese security source said Israeli artillery shells landed on Lebanese territory.
A few minutes earlier, it had been announced that air defense sirens warning of incoming rockets sounded in northern Israel, near the country’s border with Lebanon.
The Israeli television network Channel 13 TV broadcast that explosions were heard in the area.
