Two brothers and their uncle allegedly killed their father before dumping his body at Guato river in Njuthine village, Meru County according to their sister.
The disappearance of the father prompted angry members of the community across the village to conduct a four-day search for the body.
An eyewitness said he saw a leg floating on the surface but the body sank as he prepared to dive into the water. He said the body was discovered after a three-hour search.
The main suspects in Kinyua’s disappearance were Phineas, Mutuma, and their uncle Bernard. Bernard allegedly murdered her father at his home, according to Winjoy.
“I was away from home when I received a phone call last week that my father had gone missing. On several occasions, my brother and uncle threatened to kill my father. According to unconfirmed reports, my father spent the entire day at my uncle’s house assisting him with cleaning his house the night before he disappeared,” said Winjoy.
Crime scene detectives arrived on the scene and discovered bloodstains on the floor, curtains, clothes, and gumboots at Bernard’s house, according to Winjoy. Mutuma, she claimed, had been missing since the day her father disappeared.
According to an eyewitness, the body was placed in a gunny bag weighted by stones on the side.
“I used a large stick to draw the body closer so I could grab it and drag it out of the water. The deceased had a deep cut on the back of his head and appeared to have been struck on the chest with a blunt object with several of his fingers missing. The deceased was not an alcoholic and was a member of the KAG church,” an eyewitness said.
He advised young people to accept and live with their parents as they are. Phineas and Bernard were taken into custody while the search for Mutuma continues.
