National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi says it is impossible to have a referendum before next year’s general election. Muturi is of the view that the BBI case may not be determined on time, especially if it doesn’t end up at the Supreme Court.
He made the remarks in response to a statement by ODM leader Raila Odinga that there will be a referendum before 2022.
“Since the matter is still in court, I think it’s fair to allow the courts to make their determinations,” said Muturi.

“There is still an opportunity that whoever losses can still appeal to the Supreme Court. So I think for the time being we just let that matter be handled by the courts. We have confidence that it will be resolved one way or another,” said Muturi.
