The Education Cabinet Secretary, Professor George Magoha, on April 12, while supervising the opening of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams container in Kiambu County, which have since been completed, told parents and guardians that schools will reopen on May 10 as scheduled.

Dr. Julius Jwan, Principal Secretary for Early Learning and Basic Education advised teachers across the country to get Covid-19 vaccines before schools reopen to keep students safe.

The Ministry of Education, according to Juan, is working closely with the Teachers Service Commission and various teachers’ unions to persuade teachers to get vaccinated.

Juan also announced that the Ministry of Education is working with the country’s leadership and a health multi-agency team to see if the opening dates can be changed based on how the Covid -19 virus behaves.
