STATEMENTS

The following Statement were sought by Members of the National Assembly, while others were responded to/ issued by the respective Committees Chairs:-

(a) Request for Statements

​The following Statement were requested by: –

(i) The Member for Kiambaa (Hon. John Njuguna, MP) regarding Nairobi Western Bypass project, in particular compensation of traders and youth engagement in the project;

(ii) The Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, M.P. (Kikuyu) regarding issuance of visas to Kenyans travelling to the People’s Republic of China;

(iii) The Hon. Gideon Keter, MP (Nominated) regarding Increased killings of young people in the country;

(iv) The Hon. Benjamin Washiali, MP (Mumias East) regarding Dangers posed by open quarries abandoned by contractors in the country;

(v) The Hon. Bady Twalib, MP (Jomvu) regarding water shortage crisis in Jomvu Constituency;

(b) Response to Statements​The following responses to requested statements were issued by:

A. Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives on the Statements requested by:

(i) The Hon. John Mwirigi, MP (Igembe South) regarding Closure of airspace by the Federal Republic of Somalia and its effect on Miraa farmers; and

(ii) The Hon. Owen Baya, M.P. (Kilifi North) regarding Policy measures regarding manufacturing and value addition of pineapples in Kilifi County

B. Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing on the Statements requested by:

(i) The Hon. Peris Tobiko, MP (Kajiado East) regarding heavy traffic flow in Kitengela Town;

(ii) The Hon. Kangogo Bowen, MP (Marakwet East) regarding traffic in Nairobi; and

(iii) The Hon. Olago Aluoch, MP (Kisumu West) regarding failure by Kenya Railways Corporation to engage casual labour.

(c) Chairperson of the Select Committee on National Government Constituencies Development Fund gave a Statement regarding proposed Budget Ceiling for each constituency for the Financial Year 2021/2022.

(d) Pursuant to Standing Order 44(2)(c), the Leader of the Majority Party issued a Statement,

Regarding business to be considered by the House during the week commencing 21st September 2021, upon resumption from the long recess.
