A concrete platform with seats collapsed in a synagogue full of worshipers in Givat Zeev, an Israeli settlement near Jerusalem, according to Israeli rescue services.
Four police officers were injured in a car bomb attack in East Jerusalem.
Hundreds of pilgrims had gathered there to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Savoy (Pentecost) at this synagogue when the podium fell under their feet. According to a representative of the rescue services, the structure was “under construction”.
A police spokesman said 650 pilgrims were in the synagogue at the time for the start of the Jewish holiday of Savoy.
Images from security cameras shown on Channel 12 showed a platform full of worshipers collapsing and people falling on top of each other.
