The real intentions of the Taliban are revealed in the shocking video at the moment of the public flogging of a person who was accused of stealing a mobile phone.
The video shows the man screaming in pain as he is beaten with a whip in a public punishment held outside the Afghan Ministry of Education in the country’s capital, Kabul.
This is the practical implementation of the “translation” of Islamic law by the Taliban, evoking memories of the way they ruled in Afghanistan before the arrival of the Americans in the country with floggings, executions, mutilations and deportations of women.
The video, released by social media accounts belonging to opposition supporters in Afghanistan, was released while the Taliban also banned women from attending work.
“I’d better die,” said a woman who was fired from her senior post at Afghanistan’s foreign ministry. “I was the head of an entire department where a lot of women worked and now we have all lost our jobs,” she told AFP.
