Damien Tarel, the man who attacked and slapped French President Emmanuel Macron, was sentenced today to 18 months in prison.
He was tried in the town of Valence, two 24 hours after the incident. He was also deprived of his political rights for three years, as well as a life ban from engaging in any form of work in the public sector.
Finally, the French justice ruled that for five years he will not be able to use a weapon but also that he will have to follow a program of psychological surveillance.
Damien Tarel is 28 years old and a staunch supporter of the so-called “fascist sphere”, a French term that describes all the websites on the internet that are ideologically identified with the far right.
He seems to be a fanatical loner, but of those who have constant obsessions and seek at all times to display their ideological identity.
