Thirteen jihadists killed in clearing operation

Thirteen Boko Haram jihadists were killed during a clearing operation around Difa, a major city in southeastern Niger not far from the border with Nigeria, the force said.

The operation, dubbed “Bunny Ma” (“Catching Fish” in one of the Nigerian languages), was carried out “from 21 to 23 November” around Difa, with the aim of “neutralizing any terrorist” in the area and to fight “Boko Haram incursions,” Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Nigeria said in a press release issued by the Multinational Joint Force.

“One wounded” was recorded in the ranks of the PMD, while “in the ranks of the enemy” it was confirmed that “13 fighters were neutralized” (s.s .: killed), according to the announcement.

According to the PMD, there is a “complex network of financing terrorist activities created by Boko Haram” in the area where the operation was carried out.

Weapons, including AK-47 assault rifles, assault rifles, grenades, detonators, ammunition and various pharmaceuticals were seized.

Boko Haram, born in neighboring Nigeria, carried out its first attack in Niger on February 6, 2015, against Boso on the shores of Lake Chad.

The Difa district is home to some 300,000 Nigerian refugees and displaced people who have fled their homes because of jihadist atrocities, according to the United Nations.

In addition to the attacks by Boko Haram and the Islamic State in West Africa (IKDA), an organization that emerged when the former split, Niger also faces jihadist groups swearing allegiance to either Al Qaeda or the Islamic State in the Sahel. its western part.
