The Service Party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has insisted that President Uhuru Kenyatta should park and go when his term comes to an end in 2022.
He said that his party will move to the Supreme Court to seek an advisory on the rumoured plan by the government of the day to extend its term in office and that is being pegged on the BBI report.
Mwangi Kiunjuri has warned the elected leaders to abide by the constitution.
“They must vacate office on the 9th of August next year. There will be no extension of the term of Governors, MPs or the President. The constitution is very clear and very soon we are going to move to the supreme court for advisory,” said Kiunjuri.
The building bridges initiative report which aims at expanding the executive among other policies continued to spar debate.
“There are other issues that are more important than the BBI. What is important today is the government to ensure they give money to the governors so that governors can pay suppliers and contactors and money can get to our pockets,” said Kiunjuri.
Other leaders said that the people of Kenya should learn the art of political compromise which what drives our country forward. They urged other leaders to accept that they need one another.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has stated that it is time to hand over power to a different community. Leaders from his backyard have a different opinion about who will succeed him.
During a function attended by Mwangi Kiunuri they said that as much as the Kikuyu community are blessed for many years with the presidency, they still have a part in the coming government and we cannot just watch.
It’s clear the mountain will continue to rumble for quite a while.
