Two Myanmar citizens have been arrested for plotting to kill or injure their country’s ambassador to the United Nations, the Manhattan prosecutor’s office said on Friday.
Diplomat Kiao Moe Tun supports the pro-democracy movement and has refused to step down, as ordered by the military junta that ousted the government last February.

The two suspects were “planning to seriously injure or kill the ambassador” in an attack on US soil, said Audrey Strauss, the federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York.
