Two pedestrians struck after car veers off road, overturns

A watermelon fruit vendor and a man were both hit by a car on Maua-Kiegoi road.

According to an eyewitness Kariithi, a car went off the road, hit two pedestrians on the sidewalk and overturned.

According to eyewitnesses, there were two people in the car and no reported deaths.

The accident happened at Kaando village. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for serious injuries. The two pedestrians were also taken to the hospital for their injuries

“The majority of drivers on the road do not respect motorcyclists. We urge the government to install speed bumps along the road to prevent future accidents,” Wanja said.

Another eyewitness said because of an earlier accident at the same location, the scene should be designated as a black spot.

“If the car had hit a motorcyclist, he would have been seriously injured,” an eyewitness said.

“The lack of bumps on the road can be blamed for the accident. There are always reported cases of accidents occurring on a regular basis,” an eyewitness said.

“If guard rails had been installed along the road, the car would not have overturned,” an eyewitness said.

An eyewitness said the road became narrower after it was tarmacked because cars and motorcycles could not fit on it.

“So far, ten people have died on the road. A recent collision between two motorcycles resulted in the deaths of several people,” he said.

He urged motorcycle riders to be cautious due to the state of the road and to drive slowly at all times.
