Kiambaa by-election campaigns have officially been closed 48 hours to voting day on Thursday. Political parties took the opportunity to intensify their efforts to secure support for the election in two days’ time.

After months of intense campaigns for the Kiambaa and Muguga wards by-election, the day of reckoning is fast approaching. Leaders from the UDA political outfit associated with Deputy President William Ruto urged the Inspector General of police to keep the police out of the by-election.

Jubilee party was also out in force wooing voters to the polls on Thursday.

IEBC says it is ready to deliver a credible by-election and warned the leaders against any move that threatens the peace.

All eyes will be the Kiambaa constituency and Muguga ward by-elections which is also seen as a contest between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

The by-election is also a battle for the ruling party to redeem itself after a humiliating defeat at the Juja by-election and Rurii ward where the Jubilee candidates lost to an independent candidate from the People Empowerment Party and UDA.

Eight candidates are in for the Kiambaa constituency seat which fell vacant following the death of Paul Koinage in March
