Uhuru to strengthen business ties with President Tshisekedi in DR Congo trip

Must read

According to a statement from the Kenyan Embassy in the DRC, the President arrived in Kinshasa on Tuesday afternoon for a series of meetings with his host President, Felix Tshisekedi.

Kenyan officials said ahead of the trip that they were considering granting DRC various trading privileges in order to entice more of its traders to use the Mombasa port for importation of goods.

One such offer is to allow the Democratic Republic of the Congo to open a consulate in Mombasa, easing customs clearances at the port.

Another proposal, subject to DRC response, is to provide a specialized inland container depot to handle goods bound for DRC, as well as specialized container freight stations, clearing and forwarding stations, and other facilities comparable to those provided to Uganda and Rwanda at the Mombasa port.
