Some leaders from Ukambani have taken a swipe at Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for what they say is engaging in sideshows that do not benefit the people from the region.
Speaking after holding a meeting ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit next week, the leaders were hopeful that this would help accelerate economic development in the region.
“The Ukambani region has been left behind in terms of development and we are hopeful that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit next week will bear fruits,” said Kivutha Kibwana, Governor of Makueni County.
We’re earmarking different projects that we would like him to actually say this is what he can do and we will be sharing with him when he comes and when we meet his ministers,” said Charity Ngilu, Governor of Kitui County.
“We want President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit next week to benefit the people Ukambani region. It would be bad if he came to visit without our people gaining anything because there some leaders who only like to be seen with the President and people are left in hunger, poverty and challenges,” said Dr. Alfred Mutua, Machakos Governor.
