A pastor from EAPC church in Laicithii-Tigania in Meru county has been rejected by the congregation after being transferred to the church.
According to a church member, the pastor was transferred from Nairiri church to another church, where he was rejected due to a poor track record of development before being transferred to EAPC Laicithii church.
“Pastor Thairu served as our pastor until his retirement. Pastor Bundi was later transferred to our church from Mugae. He brought many changes and developments to the church, including increased congregation, Wednesday prayers, and Friday prayers on a mountain.
“During pastor Bundi”s Tenure, we had the floor brazed with tiles and the walls plastered and painted. We were not notified of his transfer, despite the fact that we have ongoing projects.
“We are not prepared to be led by a pastor with a poor track record of development, and we demand that our pastor be reinstated or replaced,” she said.
The Laicithii area manager told BaiteTv that he informed the pastor that he had been rejected by the congregation and that the chief and sub chief agreed that he should leave.
“The church members insist on hearing sermons from pastors who live in Laithicii. The chief and subchief stated that the members would prefer to be left alone.
“I’ve asked the rejected preacher to leave the church grounds so that the congregation can continue with the service.
“I guarantee that no damage has been done to the church property, and we have no intention of escalating chaos,” he said.
According to a youth leader, two men wanted to close down the church, as they had done in the past when they were in charge.
“After being transferred, they established a new church, which was later closed due to corruption.
“We reject Pastor Munjuri and demand the reinstatement of Pastor Bundi. He’s been moved to Malibi.
“Pastor Munjuri has been transferred three times in one month,” he said
