The country’s prime minister, Boris Johnson, condemned the incident, saying on Twitter that he was shocked by Professor Whitey’s “disgusting harassment”.
The video shows two men laughing, making fun of and grabbing the teacher, who is trying to free himself.
The Metropolitan Police said that the incident took place in St. James’s Park in London on Sunday.
Boris Johnson wrote on Twitter: “I condemn the behavior of these thugs. “Our hard-working civil servants should not have to face this kind of harassment on our streets and we will not tolerate it.”
The leader of the Labor Party, Sir Kir Starmer, spoke of “disgusting behavior”, adding that the police are properly investigating it.
This is not the first time this has happened: Earlier in the month, a man in Oxford accused him of lying to the public about the coronavirus, while in February he was approached by someone outside Westminster.
Professor Whitey has been instrumental in the UK’s response to the pandemic, appearing regularly alongside the Prime Minister in his televised messages about the pandemic.
