Police in the United States detained a Florida man after a video showing the attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl emerged, according to a statement from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier, the county police posted on Facebook a video dated May 18, which shows a man getting out of a car and trying to kidnap a girl and drag her into a car. The child, who, according to the police report, was waiting for the bus, managed to resist and escape.
Police later said the attacker had been arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping of a child under 13, aggravated assault and battery.
According to the Hill newspaper , the county police sheriff said that the man who attempted the kidnapping was armed with a knife and had a criminal record, in particular sex crimes against children.
