What Kalonzo Musyoka Has Promised Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru Ahead of 2022 Polls

Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka is the latest leader to make an attempt at wooing Kirinyaga governor Ann Waigru to join the One Kenya Alliance.

Kalonzo toured three Mount counties in Mt Kenya region seeking to make inroads has stamped the counties of Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Kirinyiga as having sentimental value to his 2022 presidential bid.

This Tuesday Kalonzo held meetings with three Mount Kenya governors. Embu’s Martin Wambora, Ann Waiguru of Kirinyaga and Tharaka Nithi’s Muthomi Njuki.

Accompanied by about eight legislators from Wiper, Kalonzo toured the counties seeking support. 

In Kirinyaga he called upon Governor Ann Waiguru to join the One Kenya Alliance. 

“I have not hidden from inviting Governor to consider joining. She is reputed to have sent a text message and she said after we had the Oka meeting outside a hotel, she took that gentleman and told him that is a man’s club and the message was well-received,” Kalonzo said.

“I’m in the process of introspecting and consulting and in due course, you will know the course of direction that we have taken but we’ve been on the same side of the government on the handshake side. So it’s not too far,” said Waiguru.

Kalonzo has affirmed his readiness to scale the mountain and has over 8 million voters rally behind his presidential bid.

“But you also want to climb it in a manner that is not going to cause friction to anybody,” Kalonzo said.

In Tharaka Nithi, the message was the same with Kalonzo and his entourage saying he felt at home and was ready to walk with the region towards his presidential bid.
