Woman tries to kill co-worker in machete attack

Must read

A woman is accused of a machete attack inside a farm in Kamberia village in Meru County that sent another woman to the hospital.

The victim had gotten into an argument with the woman before hitting her in the head with the machete, causing a deep cut, she said.

The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was treated and released.

According to the victim, they were both cultivating on a piece of land when the suspect realized that she had finished the part of the land she had been assigned and planned to start another.

She approached her and asked her if she could finish it, and when she said yes, she called her a devil. When the victim sought to know why she was called a devil, the suspect thrust a machete at her at least once, opening up a very minor cut on the victim’s head, the victim said.

The suspect fled the farm, the victim said. She was described as a tall, thin and middle-aged woman.

An eyewitness urged farm laborers to be kind to one another because there was a shortage of employment opportunities across the country.

“They were fortunate to have been given the opportunity, and women working on farms should not be jealous of one another if one of them completes tasks faster,” he said.

According to an eyewitness, laborers should be grateful that they have a hardworking colleague among them, especially now that the rainy season is approaching.

“Instead of fighting, they should band together and do their jobs in peace, and it is sad for a woman to be envious of another woman because she is more energetic,” he said

Police were investigating the incident.
