Sheila Nyanchera, a 25-year-old woman from Etangi village in Kisii county, has been discharged from the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after giving birth to quintuplets on Thursday, April 15.
Unfortunately, one of the quintuplets, a girl, died as a result of birth problems due to underweight.
The babies were discharged after reaching the requisite minimum weight of 2kg each, according to the hospital’s director of medical services, Geoffrey Otomu.
Nyanchera, who delivered the four girls and one boy via caesarean section, was in stable condition, according to Otomu.
Mama Elizabeth Ongwae, the first lady of Kisii County, got the opportunity to see the mother and the children at the Newborn Unit. Governor James Ongwae has promised to cover all of their medical bills while they are at the hospital.
