The Executive Director of AFRICAN UNION MECHANISM FOR POLICE COOPERATION (AFRIPOL) Dr. Tarek A. Sharif has sent a congratulatory message to the incoming President of AFRIPOL Mr. Hilary Mutyambai, the Inspector General National Police Service, following his election to lead the esteemed continental law enforcement cooperation of AU Member States.
In his Note dated 21 October 2021, Dr. Sharif thanked the new president for his continued cooperation and support to AFRIPOL.
Reaffirming his confidence in the leadership of Mr. Mutyambai at the helm of the AU mechanism for police cooperation, the Executive Director further offered his assurance and commitment to working with the police service of the Republic of Kenya to strengthen the capacities of African police agencies.
IG Hilary Mutyambai was elected unopposed as the president of AFRIPOL, 2021-2022 and will be presiding over the cooperation of AU Member States, shaping its policy direction especially on issues related to peace and security.
The body will place special emphasis on silencing the guns in Africa and related issues of transnational organized crime, cybercrime and terrorism.
