Hon. Ayub criticises Governor Kiraitu for attempted Kiyiapi’s party take over

Must read

Former presidential candidate James ole Kiyiapi has said that the Restore and Build Kenya Party (RBK) is purportedly being taken by people he considers as strangers.

In a tweet, Professor Kiyiapi said that they have contested that move with the Office of the registrar of political parties as Members of RBK.

Abothuguchi Central ward Hon. Ayub Bundi Solomon said in an interview with a tv station that he had a letter in which Professor Kiyiapi claims that the RBK party was not acquired in the right manner.

“As evidenced by records, Kiraitu Murungi is now attempting to force his way into another party but is being pushed away. The people of Meru should realize Kiraitu Murungi has politically expired,” Hon. Ayub Bundi said.

Hon. Ayub said that according to records, Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and former Embu County Senator Lenny Kivuti, who were the top officials in the Bus party, sold it out and are now facing a challenge.

“Kiraitu Murungi parked the bus, removed the wheels, and sold the remaining body parts as scrap metal. They should not try to persuade the Meru people that they are rebranding the party because, before choosing 5 officials from the Abogeta West community and a sixth member as former Njia Ward MCA Eunice, they should have considered choosing an official from Igembe North, Igembe South, Tigania, and other communities,” Hon. Ayub said.

Hon. Ayub said that Mt Kenya East does not have a political party and it is only members of the Abogeta-West community who are members of the party Governor Kiraitu Murungi is popularising.

“Their party will only benefit a small number of people. I’ve analyzed all of the party officials, and one of them, Lawyer Kimathi, happens to be Meru governor Kiraitu’s advisor on payroll. According to records, the senior staff in Meru County government are all from Abogeta-West,” Hon. Ayub said.

According to Hon. Ayub Bundi, It demonstrates that Kiraitu Murungi’s party lacks trust in communities other than Abogeta-West.

On the ongoing political debates about the formation of Mt Kenya East political party or making people spokesman, Hon. Ayub says that a Meru resident will not benefit from it.

“The debates are aimed at the goal of allowing a few people to succeed while leaving many others out. When the Meru people have a strong party, a large percentage of the people will vote for the party rather than an individual,” Hon. Ayub said.

“This is very bad because the wrong people with a poor track record will be voted for simply because they belong to a marketed party, leaving out individuals who would have performed better.

“Meru County had the most political parties in parliament following the 2017 general elections, with many of them being independent. This means that the people of Meru looked at individuals rather than specific political parties,” Hon. Ayub said.

“The Meru people chose individuals based on what they perceived they could offer to benefit them. Meru County has a history of not voting for political parties because they are left out of the government if they do,” Hon. Ayub said.

Hon. Ayub said that Abogeta-Central had approximately 15 candidates and all candidates cannot fit into one party and run for office. He said that Meru County should embrace the idea of having multiple political parties so that Meru residents can conduct their own background checks on candidates and decide on who will bring about change in the community.
