Police are investigating the death of a man who was found in Laare, Meru County with blunt injury to his head.
The man’s body was found by eyewitnesses and has not been identified.
Police responded to a report of an unconscious man, according to a statement from the OCS Laare and no other information was immediately available.
Officers found the individual, who was unconscious and unresponsive, on a pavement in the rear of a building, according to the police statement.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by police.
No arrests have been made and the investigation continues, according to the police statement.
According to an eyewitness, the deceased was a Miraa hawker in the market. The man, who was possibly in his 30s and did not have identification on him, was found lying on his back.
He had an abrasion on his head and no signs of blood appeared to be on his nose and mouth, but there was no clear indication of what caused his death, according to eyewitnesses.
OCS Laare urged residents to stay in touch with one another in order to facilitate identification in the event of similar incidents in the future.
He asked witnesses to report any information they may have on the deceased so that his family members could be notified.
The body was taken to Maua Level 4 hospital and the medical examiner is expected to determine his cause of death.
