German police are searching for the gunman who left behind two dead in an attack in Espelkamp, 80 km west of Hanover. The incident is being investigated as homicide and, despite the manhunt, the perpetrator is still escaping arrest.
A man and a woman were shot dead on Thursday in Espelkamp, a city in northwestern Germany. According to the police, there is no information about the motive yet, but it is not considered that it was a terrorist attack. “Things look like it was a crime instead of terrorism,” a police spokesman told Reuters
One victim was killed outside an apartment building and the other on a nearby street. The shootings took place in the city center shortly before noon. No details have been released about the perpetrator, but police say there is no immediate danger to the public.
The German Bild reported earlier that police have mobilized from all over the area to arrest the perpetrator, while the situation seems to be a case of a person in “amok”.
However, a Bielefeld police spokesman said it did not appear to be an accident, and investigations are underway to determine any links between the victims and the perpetrator.
